Sometimes the strangest things wind up in my inbox. With e-mail it is so easy to dash off a copy of a letter to people, even if you don't know them, that the line between private and public communication is becoming ever more blurred.

I think I got this because I'm on a few web pages at UCSF. It arrived, direct from a columbia.edu address. I think it's sincere. I know it's odd. Not quite spam, perhaps liverworst?

Some of the e-mail I get seem so sincere, yet is so irrellevant as to be stupefying. It makes me wonder if there is anyone out there with any intelligence at all.
Oooh, I just recieved another odd e-mail from the aluminium folks, I think.
